A quick detour will take you upstairs in the curling rink to the Body, Mind and Spirit Psychic Fair. Ready for a decor facelift? Time to face the fact that you’re swimming in clutter? You’ll want to check out Building C where you’ll find the cream of the crop in design professionals. Building C also features flooring, furnishings, window fashions, home renovators, hot tubs, paint and wall coverings, décor items, kitchens, appliances, electronics, woodwork and design items, including artwork.

FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL
We know you’re going to work up an appetite exploring everything at the show. Our great line-up of sixteen food truck vendors offering “street food” can be found outside on the fairgrounds. Featured will be gourmet coffees, fresh lemonade and tasty offerings like Greek donairs, awesome creative sandwiches, fish and chips, stuffed burgers, Thai noodles, wood-fired pizza, chicken wings, homestyle deep fried chicken, mac and cheese, poutine, and for those with a sweet tooth—-ice cream from Sweet Tooth Creamery and amazing desserts from Cannoli King Vancouver. And, of course, those devilish little mini donuts that few can resist. Can’t wait.
SHOOTING STAR AMUSEMENTS
Ah, the lights, the sounds, the smells—its carnival time. Located right next door to the outdoor events, SHOOTING STAR AMUSEMENTS brings the fun to you with a great selection of rides and games of chance for all ages.

Celebrating 20-plus years and still entirely free, Family Fest 2019 has fun everywhere you look. A magical place for kids, Family Fest also includes features for the not so young, but young at heart. The entire event is free and runs all three days of home show. Check out this year’s line-up:
BOBS & LOLO…CANADA’S FAVOURITE KIDS’ ENTERTAINERS
Bobs & LoLo are five-time JUNO nominated singer-songwriters and stars of Treehouse TV’s upbeat, musical preschool series Sing, Dance and Play with Bobs & LoLo. Recently named Canada’s Favorite Kids’ Entertainers in a nationwide poll by CBC Music, this dynamic duo is dedicated to connecting children to nature with music, movement and make-believe. Their energetic live performances are guaranteed to have kids on their feet, dancing along and entire families singing their favorite songs! Onstage at Family Festival Sunday, May 5, noon.
TINA TURNER TRIBUTE….AS SEEN ON ELLEN AND OPRAH
Especially for seniors, Tina Turner tribute artist Luisa Marshall will appear at Family Fest Saturday May 5 at 1:00 pm on the main stage. A world class performer and award-winning artist, Marshall has appeared on both the Oprah and Ellen shows and in 2003, she won the World Rock and Roll Tribute Artist Championship. First 250 seniors receive coffee or tea and cookies courtesy McDonald’s. Psssst…the cookies are as good as homemade.
DOOLITTLE’S PETTING ZOO:
Watch your child’s face light up with the opportunity to get up close and personal with everyone’s best-loved barnyard animals. This perennial favorite is consistently rated our number one event for the little ones! Remember to clean your hands after visiting the petting zoo—-hand sanitizer available on site. Be prepared to take lots of photos. The look on kids’ faces the first time they pet a bunny or see baby chicks is priceless.
REPAIR IT CAFE– Friday only,
Bikes, old radios, toasters, lamps….gather up all that ‘stuff’ you’ve been meaning to repair and head to Ridge Meadows Home Show on opening night, May 3. You’ll find a host of experts, all of them local volunteer seniors, who’ll use their expertise to breathe new life into all manner of broken gadgets and household items. Much better than the landfill. You’ll find the Repair Cafe at Family Fest at the Albion Fairgrounds, right next door to Planet Ice where our biggest, best show ever will take place.
BRING BACK PLAY…in HANEY BUILDERS’ SANDBOX
Let’s play! with Haney Builders’ Supplies. Kids get a chance to unleash their imagination and create sand magic all on their own or with help from Mom and Dad or, Family Fest staff. Easy and a whole lot of fun. All three days. And its free courtesy of Haney Builders! (And don’t forget to check out the Haney Builders’ display in the home show, where they’re showcasing the store’s history in Maple Ridge as they celebrate their 80th anniversary.)
NORDEN THE MAGICIAN:
Loveable, laughable Norden the Magician, Family Fest master of ceremonies, will work his magic with three days of stage shows and walk around magic. Norden has won countless national and international awards and is a ten-time winner of the prestigious Magician of the Year award from Pacific Coast Magicians’ Association. Check the show schedule for his magic shows onstage. Kids love him.
SCIENCE WORLD ON THE ROAD
Science World’s travelling version of their signature live science shows include demonstration topics like electricity, moving objects, air pressure, sound, fire and much more. Explore the world through an infrared camera, spin like a figure skater, experience hair-raising static electricity with the Van de Graaff generator, or try building epic towers out of thousands of wooden KEVA Planks. Great hands-on fun.
BATESON’S MARTIAL ARTS GO NINJAS:
If the giant Ninjas Dojo bouncy isn’t enough, kids will want to try the challenges of the Ninjas Obstacle course, created by Karen and Perry Bateson. The Bateson’s have been sponsors and participants in the Family Fest for as long as it’s been in existence—twenty-plus years!
Is it an art or a sport? Hours of practice and strength training are the basis
of the extreme flexibility that unfolds the grace, precision and beauty that allows contortionists to bend their bodies into impossibly complex positions. All weekend at Family Fest, Precision Acrobatics will perform the art of contortion and other acrobatic feats taught at their local acrobatic school. Regular performers at corporate, charitable and private events the lead artists of Precision have travelled worldwide showcasing an amazing array of acrobatic talents. GREYHAVEN EXOTIC BIRD SANCTUARY
Polly want a cracker? Even more, Polly wants a home. Several years after their rescue from the island sanctuary forced to close after the death of its owner, many parrots and exotic birds are still looking for homes. If you can open your heart and your home to a rescue bird, there are many species still available. Several birds will be joining us at Family Fest at Ridge Meadows Home Show. Stop by and say hello…and then wait to see what happens.

AS YOU WISH PRINCESSES Princesses, princesses, princesses, all weekend long at Family Fest. Friday, Rainbow the Unicorn Princess will enchant her subjects at 5:30 pm. Saturday the beautifully-gowned Moana, Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty will arrive at Family Fest for two shows: 12:15 and 3 pm. Sunday, at 1:00 and 2:30 pm Moana will return with Belle and Cinderella. If you fall in love with the princesses and simply must have them at your next birthday party or special event, you can book right on site.
No visit to Family Fest is complete without a trip to face-painting headquarters located at Maple Ridge Fairgrounds, right in the thick of things at Family Fest. FRIENDS IN NEED FOOD BANK—GROW A ROW
Getting all geared up for gardening season? How about growing
an extra row for the local food bank? Check out the Friends in Need food bank’s display at this year’s Family Fest and get the details on the ‘grow a row’ campaign. You can also learn all about helping those in need by donating money, food or your time to this great community organization.
PAINT STAR PARTY at RIDGE MEADOWS HOME SHOW
Paint star party is a fun way to spend time creating your own masterpiece with paint on canvas, while the paint star pros teach you step by step how to create your own masterpiece. Currently the rage, these parties are held at restaurants, coffee shops, campsites, corporate events, schools—-pretty much anywhere people can gather.

Everyone deserves a little sparkle in their lives. New this year at Family Fest is Fun with Glitter at the Sparkle Bar. Create and take home your own crown or color your favorite picture. Let your imagination run wild and let glitter reign. Everything supplied.
BIG AIR FREESTYLE BIKE SHOW
Come watch local professional athletes do incredible tricks in a high-flying bike demo at this year’s Family Fest at Ridge Meadows Home Show. Event is presented by Air Rec Centre, Western Canada’s largest indoor bike park. The facility is located in Maple Ridge. In addition to presenting the big air freestyle bike shows, organizers are urging people to bring their bikes to the show where a kid-friendly riding area will be set up for kids of all ages. The group is also offering valet service for bikes, basically a secure location overseen by volunteers, to encourage home show visitors to ride their bikes to the venue. Shows are scheduled Saturday, May 4: 11:30 am, 2 pm and 4 pm and Sunday, May 5: 11:30am, 1:30pm.
SCHOOL OF ROCK BATTLE OF THE BANDS
Get ready Maple Ridge as three of Samuel Robinson Technical School’s top rock bands square off against each other to win this year’s Battle of the Bands. Local bands, Skookum, Yellow Moon and Detour will be the featured performers.
